History of Amber/Amer Fort
Amber Fort has a rich and interesting history that goes back to 967 CE. The fort was originally built by Alan Sign, the leader of the Chanda clan of Meenas, who also established the settlement of Amer.
In 1592, Raja Man Singh of the Kachwaha clan, one of Emperor Akbar’s nine jewels (Navratna), expanded the fort, creating what we now call Amer ka Kila, using parts of the older structure.
The fort saw many changes and improvements over the years under the rule of Rajput kings. The final additions to Amber Fort were made by Sawai Jai Singh, a descendant of Raja Man Singh. He also built the Amer Palace, which we can see today.
